This year’s proposed budget for Wichita schools includes million in cuts announced in the spring, including eliminating driver’s education, closing Metro Midtown Alternative High School and doing
away with 117 positions.

“This wasn’t a surprise to anybody,” superintendent John Allison told school board members Monday night.

Property taxes won’t be raised for the 1 million budget, said Linda Jones, chief financial officer. The proposed 2010-11 budget is million higher than the one proposed for 2009-10.
