Discount shopping and outlet stores aren’t new, but more retailers — even upscale ones — are rediscovering off-price stores. Nieman Marcus opened a boutique in Rockville that sells this season’s items, compared to outlets it already has that sell older merchandise. Macy’s started a Bloomingdale’s outlet and Anne Taylor will open 35 outlet and factory stores next year. A couple Baltimore-based retailers are getting into the mix: Jos. A. Bank opened five outlets this year, and Under Armour will have 54 factory stores by the end of 2010.
