Lexington attorney to face Walker in race

Lexington attorney Alison Lundergan Grimes filed Thursday to run in the Democratic primary for secretary of state.
Grimes will face Bowling Green mayor Elaine Walker in that primary. Walker was appointed to fill the position when current Secretary of State Trey Grayson leaves for a job at Harvard.
In filing Thursday, Grimes made stops around the state to announce her candidacy. She was in Louisville, Frankfort and Lexington.
Republican Bill Johnson of Elkton, who withdrew from the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, also filed for secretary of state.
In other filings this week, two Democrats filed for state treasurer. Current treasurer L.J. Todd Hollenbach will face opposition in the Democratic primary from Steve Hamrick.
